The development of the area began sometime in the 1920s. When Shadyacres Investment Company bought 100 acres from the Henry Reinermann Original Grant. The land of Shady Acres was split up into once-acre lots. During that time, the area was broadcasted as a close-in area with oversized lots.

In the neighboring area, the oil was discovered in the 1930s. Workers of Eureka Oil Field started moving into different surrounding neighborhoods, and a rail station has built.

The Shady Acres Civic Club was founded in 1935. The SACC was pursuing the petition for city postal services and bus service. They made deals with the close oil drillers on behalf of the entire community.

Shady Acres is an exceptional neighborhood today, promoting a combination of old and new homes.
